3D Animation Projects

While I mainly focused on 2D animation and concept work, I also had the desire to learn 3D modeling. Using Autodesk Maya, I did prop modeling, character modeling and rigging, character animation, and environment modeling. I also did texturing, mainly in photoshop, but later in Adobe Substance Painter.

Floating Island

I really wanted to practice environments in 3D since I had only worked on props or simple characters, so I spent a few months developing this project. I worked through asset modeling and taught myself Substance Painter. I started with some concept sketches of a little house on a floating island, and then I modeled the exterior of the house and island. I textured that, and then had the idea to build out the inside of the house as further practice in building simple assets. I went slowly and created a simple layout of a kitchen and living space with a lofted bedroom. I plan to combine the interior and exterior, as they are currently separate, and I hope to texture the interior as well. For now, the progress photos are in the gallery below.

Porg

This is a simple character model that I rigged and animated. I started by drawing the character, figuring out a color scheme, and making a rough 2D walk animation to test how the character might move. Then I moved into Maya to model the character, I did the texture using Photoshop, and then I rigged and animated the model.
